During our holiday in England me and Kae visited the Lake District, while there we also had booked a Flight Experience with Carlisle Flight Training and Aero Club. It was initially my dads idea, he mentioned about helicopter rides which led to the idea of a flying experience in a small aircraft.
The aircraft we flew in was a Piper Warrior. It’s a small plane which can seat 3 people. I was in front with the main pilot and Kae was able to stretch out in the back seats (Note: theres very little space in the back actually).
Ian was the pilot who would be taking us on our flying tour. A friendly fella who has been a career pilot for the majority of his life. Now retired, he provides flying lessons to folks interested in taking it up as a hobby or as a career.
Ian mentioned to us for the small Airport is not really used for commercial purposes like it used to. No hauling of mail, or delivering packages. Instead they are pretty much limited to teaching and tourism.
From the flight, I know flying isn’t a career for me. I am quite happy being the passenger and enjoying the views, whilst maybe occasionally taking control of the craft to do a slight left and right turn before handing back to the main pilot.
I really hope Ian and the business he works at gets a lot of customers. They all seemed very friendly, professional and deserve more business so that they can share their passion for flying to others. I can see how others get hooked on it as a hobby.
